ChatGPT vs Claude for a Car Rental Business: Which Should You Use? (2026)
A practical comparison from a rental operator's side: how each connects to your rental software, plans, team setup, scheduled tasks, email, approvals and who receives your data. And why you don't have to pick just one.
Quick answer: For a car rental business, ChatGPT and Claude both handle the daily work well: replies, policies, ads and, once connected to your rental software, bookings, availability and payments. The practical differences are how you add the connector, which plan you need, how a team manages it, and which company receives your data. With Nomora you don't have to choose first, because the same connector URL works in both, so you can try them side by side.
"Which one is better?" is the obvious question once you know Nomora connects to both ChatGPT and Claude. Our honest answer is that for rental work, the gap between them matters less than people expect, and it changes with every model update. Quality differs by task. One will write a damage dispute reply you like better, the other might handle a messy expenses file more carefully. The only test that counts is your own requests.
What doesn't change with model updates is the practical stuff. Setup, plans, team controls, scheduling, approvals and where the data goes. That's what this comparison covers.
What's the same in both
Once connected, the Nomora side is identical. Both assistants get the same 88 tools in the Nomora AI connector, 46 that read and 42 that make changes. Both go through the same rules as the app, so a booking for a car that's already booked is refused in ChatGPT exactly as it is in Claude. Both log what they did. The booking history shows, for example, "Tomas (via Claude)".
Recording a payment or a refund writes it in Nomora and moves no money, whichever assistant you use. And the same things stay in the app either way: pickup and return, invoices, uploading files, sending documents for signature, and inspections on a phone.
So the choice is about the assistant around the connector, not about what Nomora lets it do.

Setup: a few clicks different
Both use the same connector URL and the same Nomora sign-in. You pick one organization at sign-in, and the assistant only sees that one. Only organization admins can connect.
In Claude you add a custom connector under Settings, Connectors. In ChatGPT you add a custom MCP server from Plugins in the sidebar, keep OAuth, confirm a warning and create it as a plugin. ChatGPT has one or two more screens. Neither takes long. The step-by-step setup guide has every click for both, plus Grok.
Plans: check before you pay
We're not going to list plan names or prices here, because both companies change them often and we'd be out of date within months.
What we can tell you is what to look for. In ChatGPT, whether you can add a custom MCP server at all, and whether the assistant can use write actions like creating a booking, depends on your plan. If your plan allows the connector but not write actions, it can still answer "who owes us money?" but can't record the payment. In Claude, check which plans allow custom connectors.
Before you upgrade anything, read the current plan pages from OpenAI and Anthropic and look for custom connectors or MCP. That one line decides whether the connector will work.
Teams: who adds the connector
If you're the only admin, skip this section.
On Claude Team or Enterprise, an owner adds Nomora once under Organization settings, Connectors. After that, members connect it from their own settings and sign in with their own Nomora account. It's a clean split. The owner decides which connectors the company allows, and each person signs in as themselves.
For ChatGPT business workspaces, check the admin settings on your plan to see who can add custom MCP servers.
On the Nomora side, the rule is the same for both. Only organization admins can connect, so a staff member without admin rights can't hand your booking data to an assistant. For staff who just need answers about the fleet, Nomora AI is built into the app and any team member can use it.
Scheduled tasks and booking emails
This is where the connector pays off most, and both assistants can do it.
Connect Gmail or Outlook to the same assistant through its own email connectors. Then ask it to go through booking inquiries. It checks which cars are free for the requested dates, quotes from your price list, and replies with your Guest Book link with dates and class filled in. Or it creates the customer and the booking and replies with the booking's customer link, where the customer fills in their details, signs and pays.
Claude and ChatGPT can both run this on a schedule, for example every hour. Each change still asks for approval unless you've set it to always allow. The full workflow is in answering booking inquiries with AI.
If your company email is on Gmail or Outlook, either assistant works. Pick the one whose email connector you can actually connect to your account.
Approvals: same idea in both
Both assistants show you a write action and wait for your approval before running it. Both let you choose "always allow" for an action you trust.
Our view: always allow is fine for lookups and low-stakes jobs like creating a task. Keep the approval on anything that touches customers or money, like sending an SMS (Nomora bills it per message), recording a payment, accepting a booking request or cancelling a booking. An assistant can misread "Laura" as the wrong Laura. The approval prompt is where you catch it.

Who receives your data
This is the one difference that isn't about features.
Whatever the assistant reads from Nomora goes to the company behind it: OpenAI for ChatGPT, Anthropic for Claude, xAI for Grok. That includes customer names and contact details. It happens under your account with that provider, on their terms.
So the question is which provider you're comfortable sending customer data to, and what your own account settings and privacy notice say. If you work with someone on GDPR, ask them before you connect. To stop access, disconnect the connector. More detail in is it safe to connect ChatGPT to rental software.
What about Grok?
Grok works with the Nomora connector too. You add it at grok.com/connectors as a custom connector, paste the same URL, sign in and choose your organization. xAI receives what Grok reads.
If you already pay for Grok, it's worth trying on the same requests. The booking-email routine we describe above uses Claude's or ChatGPT's own email connectors, so check what Grok can reach before you plan around it.
How to test them on your own work
Don't trust benchmarks for this, including anyone's claims about which model is smarter. Take five real requests from last week and run each one in both assistants. For example:
"Which cars are free 14 to 16 November?"
"What does a compact cost for 5 days from Friday with airport pickup?"
"Who still owes us money?"
"Reply to this customer complaining about a damage charge." Paste the email.
"Add the expenses in this file that are missing." Attach your bank export.
Compare the answers. Which one asked a better follow-up question? Which reply would you send without editing? On a booking question, the numbers should match in both, because they come from Nomora. The difference is in how each one reads your request and writes the answer.
The trial costs nothing extra on the Nomora side. Same connector URL, same plan, no add-on fee.
Which should you pick?
Already paying for one, and your team uses it? Start there. Switching costs time and the connector works in both.
On your own, not sure yet? Connect both and run the five-request test for a week. Keep the one you reach for.
Several admins on a company plan? Claude Team or Enterprise has a clear owner step for adding the connector. In ChatGPT, confirm your plan allows custom MCP servers and write actions before rolling it out.
Mainly want inbox handling? Either. Pick the one whose Gmail or Outlook connector works with your email account, and set it to run hourly.
Care most about where data goes? Choose the provider whose terms you're comfortable with, because it receives what the assistant reads.
You can connect both
There's no rule saying one company, one assistant. You can connect Nomora to ChatGPT and Claude at the same time. Each connection is separate, and you can disconnect either without touching the other. You might use Claude for the inbox and ChatGPT for quick questions on your phone, or the other way round.
Neither wins on everything. Quality differs by task and changes with model updates. For a rental company the practical differences are setup, plan requirements, team controls and which company receives your data. Run the same real requests in both and keep the one whose answers you'd use.
Does the Nomora connector work the same in ChatGPT and Claude?
Yes. Both use the same connector URL, the same 88 tools and the same rules as the app, including the double-booking check. Both ask for approval before changes unless you choose always allow.
Do I need a paid plan?
You need a plan that allows custom connectors. In ChatGPT, adding a custom MCP server and using write actions depends on your plan. Check the current plan pages from OpenAI and Anthropic before you upgrade.
Can I use ChatGPT and Claude at the same time?
Yes. Connect Nomora to both. Each connection is separate, and there's no extra fee on the Nomora side.
Who sees my customer data?
The assistant's provider receives what it reads from Nomora, including customer names and contact details: OpenAI for ChatGPT, Anthropic for Claude, xAI for Grok, under your account with them. Disconnect the connector to stop access.
